Fennel is known to be anti-parasitic. Fennel seed is used to help remove and expel parasites and their wastes.  Fennel is also very effective against Candida albicans.

Fennel contains its own unique combination of phytonutrients, including the flavonoids rutin, quercitin, and various kaempferol glycosides, that produces a strong antioxidant activity.  The most fascinating of these phytonutrients, however, may be anethole—the primary component of its volatile oil. The anethole in fennel has repeatedly been shown to reduce inflammation and to help prevent the occurrence of cancer.

Fennel bulb is an excellent source of vitamin C.  The vitamin C that is found in fennel bulb is directly antimicrobial and is needed for the proper function of the immune system.  Fennel is a great source of fiber which removes potentially carcinogenic toxins from the colon lending usefulness in the battle against colon cancer.  Fennel is also high in folate, as well as many other B vitamins, and potassium.

Fennel can stimulate the appetite and the flow of milk.  If you have a doe that is a poor milk producer try giving her fennel to increase her production (I include fennel in my herbal wormer).

Fennel is rich in phytoestrogens so it is often used for promoting menstruation, improving the digestive system and increasing urine flow. Fennel is also commonly used to treat asthma, anxiety, depression, heartburn, water retention, lower blood pressure, respiratory congestion, coughs and it has been indicated for high blood pressure and to boost sexual desire.
